Sunday 28th July – 17C

LUKE 11:1-14
Knock, knock!
Who’s there?
A friend in need.
Go away!
It’s the middle of the night:
I’m comfortably in bed,
my family is asleep.
Don’t disturb us!

Even though he will not get up
for his friend
he will disturb himself
and his family
for his friend’s persistence.

Knock, knock!
Who’s there?
I seek shelter and freedom.
Go away!
It’s the middle of the night:
I’m comfortably in bed,
my family is asleep.
Don’t disturb us!

Knock, knock!
Go away!
You are not welcome.

Even though he will not get up
for this stranger,
the day will surely come,
when he will disturb himself
and his family
for the stranger’s persistence
and need.
