My apologies for this post being so late in the week. All manner of things conspired against getting it out earlier, including a dry ‘inspiration reservoir’.
Epiphany is on Monday so I’ve also included something related to that.
JOHN 1:6-18
The Baptiser,
prophet, wilderness-dweller,
man of God,
pointed to the one
whose grace-filled life
shed new light on life,
spoke a new word of hope
and revealed love in all its fullness.

MATTHEW 2:1-12(13-18)
Among the twinkling
wise men in the east discerned
a starry portent.
Observing its rise,
searching, they came with questions
to Jerusalem.
A star of wonder
was for the king a star of fright:
his plotting began.
The star-led wise men
found child and mother: they knelt
and paid him homage.
There in Bethlehem
the wise ones gave kingly gifts:
gold, frankincense, myrrh.
They slept, and dreaming,
found life and light leading them
home another way.
