11th September 2016 – Sunday 24C

LOST AND FOUND
(Luke 15:1-10)
I was a very long way from home (Australia) and my platform at Cologne railway station was crowded. Timetables had been adapted as a consequence of industrial action by many locomotive drivers. The departure information displayed overhead seemed ambiguous so I went to the information desk in another part of this vast multi-level building to check. Having settled the matter, I was returning to the platform when I realised that I did not have my wheeled hybrid backpack ‘in tow’! I dashed back to Information. Not there! Somewhat panicked, I sprinted, ducking and weaving through the crowds and up some stairs, to the place on the platform where I’d been standing ten minutes earlier. And there, among the waiting throng of passengers, was my backpack.

Seeking and finding
that which restores our wholeness
brings relief – and joy.
