COSTLY LIVING
(Matthew 5:38-48)
You have heard it said
we live by retribution,
‘an eye for an eye’.
But I say to you,
live kindly, generously,
and without rancour.
Jesus’ word is strange,
not superseding the law,
but fulfilling it.
Jesus’ word demands
costly, counter-cultural,
radical living.
