Given the First Reading during the Easter season is not from the First Testament I am exploring the psalm (traditionally chosen as a response to the First Reading) set for this Sunday.
COMPASSION, COMPASSION
(Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35)
A difficult psalm
perhaps comprising fragments
drawn from older works.
God the powerful,
victor, provider, protector,
healer, comforter.
Human attributes
of aggression, compassion
ascribed to God.
But its word for us
in this last week of Easter –
to live compassion.
