WE GATHER TO WORSHIP GOD (Isaiah 12)
In that day I will give thanks to you, O LORD;
you were angry with me, but your anger turned away,
and you comforted me.
God is my salvation;  I will trust, and not be afraid:
the LORD GOD is my strength and might;
and has become my salvation.
You will draw water from the wells of salvation with joy;
and say in that day:
Give thanks to the LORD,
call on the name of the LORD;
tell all the earth what the LORD has done;
offer praise;
for the name of the LORD is above everything.
Sing praises to the LORD whose works are sublime;
and tell the whole earth.
Shout aloud and sing for joy, inhabitants of Zion,
for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.

OFFERING
Generous God,
we bring our diverse gifts.
Let your Holy Spirit
breathe life into our serving,
so that all that we do
may bring glory to your name. Amen.

A CREATIVE MOMENT – Isaiah 65:17-25
Use again the potted shrub/tree from last week, or another one – without the cellophane wrapping and backlight – symbolising the new creation (v.17ff) and the hope which that creation brings. After worship plant the tree in an suitable place in the church grounds.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
(A prayer to gather the spoken and silent concerns/joys/thanks expressed by the congregation and lead into a more structured Intercession with connection to the lections for the day. Sometimes this prayer borrows lightly from other sources e.g. Uniting in Worship 2 or publications of the Iona Community.)

Holy source of all that is,
who answers before we call,
who comforts the oppressed and grieving;
breath your spirit of strength and grace
on those who fear the terror of the night,
or daily life;
be present to those whose concerns are known only to you;
those who call on your name,
those we named on our lips and in our silence…
and by your presence
answer them in their day of trouble.
In Jesus’ name….
