Sunday 9 - Year A

PSALM 46
God is our refuge and protection;
from ancient times a help in trouble.
So, we will not be afraid though the earth changes
or the mountains tumble into the sea.
Its waters roar and foam;
the mountains quake at its raging.
A river and its tributaries cause rejoicing in the city of God;
the holy dwelling place of the Most High.
God is in her midst - she will not totter;
God will help her at dawn.
Nations rage and kingdoms tremble;
God speaks - the earth melts!
The LORD of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.
Come, see the works of the LORD;
astonishing deeds in the world -
putting and end to wars to the ends of the earth;
breaking the bow, shattering the spear,
and burning the war wagons with fire.
Be still and observe, for I am God;
I am exalted among the nations, exalted throughout the earth.
The LORD of Hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.

A CREATIVE MOMENT
The story that emerges from Genesis 6:9-22, 7:24, 8;14-19 might beg the question, "Where is God in a natural disaster?"
Using the draped blue and brown cloths from last week, symbolising the waters and the dry land, add a sprig of olive branch ? or a representation of one if the real thing is not readaily available.
