Ascension
- Year A, B, C
PSALM 93 (Jeff's Version for Today)
The LORD reigns, clothed in majesty and strength,
like a mountain ash in the early morning sunlight.
The world stands secure indeed,
Uluru and Gariwerd will not be shaken:
Your throne has endured, established long ago;
you, O LORD, are from eternity,
from time beyond our dreaming.
The floods lifted up their voice,
but greater than the roaring, thundering chaos,
greater than the crashing, foaming breakers
of a Southern Ocean swell,
you reign in splendour, O LORD.
Your decrees are reliable indeed,
your enduring word ever
dependable;
and holiness like a dew-spangled web,
adorns your house, O LORD,
for endless days.
ALL YOU NATIONS, CLAP YOUR HANDS
(From Psalm 47 and Dietrich Bonhoeffer ("Life Together")
Tune: WURTEMBURG or EASTER HYMN
All you nations, clap your hands;
shout to God in joyful praise.
Sing before the Lord, Most High;
to the King your anthem raise.
Hallelujah!
God the Father, Lord of all,
cares for us throughout the night;
daily wakes us from our rest,
blessing us with morning light.
Hallelujah!
God the Son, the Word made flesh,
dwelt with us, a servant Lord;
suffered death, and rose to be
in our midst: victorious Word!
Hallelujah!
God the Holy Spirit, friend,
comforts, drives dark fear away;
with the bright gleam of God's word,
fills our hearts at each new day.
Hallelujah!
With one voice the godhead praise;
throned in holy panoply,
Father, Son and Spirit, One:
ever blessed Trinity.
Hallelujah!
