PRAYERS OF ADORATION AND CONFESSION (From Psalm 20)
Blessed are you, O Lord our God,
sovereign of all that is:
we praise you and worship you.
Blessed are you, Lord Jesus Christ,
anointed and blessed,
loving Saviour of the world:
we praise you and worship you.
Blessed are you, eternal Spirit,
gracious source of light and life,
and breath of God among us;
we praise you and worship you.
One God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
we praise your name for ever and ever.
Gracious and faithful God,
you are our God when things go well:
it is easy for us to be faithful
and see your hand in our well-being.
You are our God
when things in our lives
or the lives of people around us
seem to be going wrong.
In such times
we can be drawn by those
who trust in the strength of the day
or in material solutions.
We forget to call on your name;
we forget to trust
in the strength of your unseen hand.
Lord save us, and forgive us;
in our hearts this is our deepest desire,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
