PSALM 5
Listen to my words, O God;
carefully consider my murmuring.
Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God,
for to you I pray.
O LORD, in the morning hear my prayer;
in the morning I make an offering for you and watch out for
you.
Because you are not a God who delights in wickedness
evil will not sojourn with you;
boasters may not come before you,
and you hate evil-doers;
you destroy those who speak lies,
and you loathe the murdering and deceitful, O LORD;
but in the abundance of your lovingkindness
I will enter your house;
I will bow down towards your holy temple
with those who fear you.
Lead me, O LORD, in your just ways
on account of those who lie in wait for me
make your way straight before me.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Let us worship God.
By the abundance of God's lovingkindness
we enter this holy space
and worship our God
COLLECT (from Psalm 5:1-8)
Gracious and loving God,
who does not delight in the broken-ness of the world:
hear our prayer this morning;
hear the words of our lips
and the murmurings of our inmost being;
In the abundance of your lovingkindness,
sustain and encourage those for whom we pray today;
in Jesus' name. Amen
DISMISSAL
May God lead you in just ways
and make the way before you straight.
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

For the weeks ahead a theme of discipleship in a variety of forms is evident.
Symbols on the table at the centre of worship could include a swathe of white/gold cloth draped from the table onto the floor (the hair which dried Jesus' feet/ the forgiveness which flows from Jesus); a small bowl of salty water (tears); an empty bowl (reminder of Simon's lack of hospitality). The worship space could be perfumed in a variety of ways, according to the custom in your congregation, and with sensitivity to allergies etc.
