Sunday 12 - Year C

PSALM 42
Like a deer panting for streams of water
so the very core of my being longs for you, O God.
My life thirsts for God, the God of life;
When will I enter and see the face of God?
My tears were my food day and night
when they said to me day after day, "Where is your God?"
Let me remember these things and pour out my life;
how I would cross over with the crowd,
and walk slowly to the house of God
with the sound of joyful shouts and thanksgiving, and festive procession.
I ask my inmost self,
"Why are you dejected, and why your groaning within me?
Wait for God with hope, because I will praise him again,
the helping presence of my God."
My life within me is despairing;
therefore I will remember you,
from the land of Jordan and Hermon, from the mountain of Mizar
Deep calls to deep,
to the clamour of water-spouts.
All your breakers and waves have overwhelmed me.
Day by day the LORD orders his lovingkindness
and in the night his song is with me,
a prayer to the living God.
I say to God, my rock, "Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I walk in deepening darkness,
in the trouble caused by my enemies?"
With a feeling of death in my bones my enemies taunt me,
saying to me day after day,
"Where is your God?"
I ask my inmost self,
"Why are you dejected, and why your groaning within me?
Wait for God with hope, because I will praise him again,
the helping presence of my God."

A CREATIVE MOMENT - Luke 8:26-39
The theme of discipleship continues.
Symbols on the table at the centre of worship could include a swathe of white/gold cloth draped from the table onto the floor or a lighted candle (Jesus' word which frees the man of his demons); a large card or small poster with the post/zip code of your locality (we have a responsibility to proclamation where we live); a 'blindfold' (symbolising the fear of the people).
