O God, our God,
how marvellous is your name in all the earth.
That you would want to abide in us,
fickle,
often divided,
sometimes loving,
ever ambiguous.
And yet you offer a place for all who follow:
like no stately mountain ash or robust, rugged red‑gum,
but an unassuming realm ‑
like a mustard bush.
What an odd couple:
you, O God, and your human creation!
O God, our God,
how marvellous is your name in all the earth.
