LUKE 19:1-10
They looked down on him,
a collector of taxes
and shunned him.
He looked up to the Teacher,
ran ahead,
climbed a tree,
rose above his detractors
and looked down on the Teacher.
The Teacher looked up to him,
called him down:
eye-level
and a reverse invitation
into to the man’s hospitality.
The crowd looked down on the Teacher
and the collector of taxes
but the Teacher looked at them –
eye-level:
the one they disparaged, excluded,
looked down on,
was also
one of them –
a son of Abraham.
Looking down on,
looking up to,
eye-level.
