Christmas Eve
BIRTH AND DISORDER
Lk 2:1-14, (15-20)
We anticipate
a birth, not the disorder
it accompanies.
In our relating
the further distant we are
the less its impact.
A birth narrative
of inn, angels and shepherds
bears deeper meaning.
But is much of that
meaning lost under swaddling
wrapped age upon age?
Jeff Shrowder, 2016.
Christmas Day 1
UNWRAPPING 1
Lk 2:(1-7), 8-20
A baby is born:
family life upended,
a new pecking order.
A birth narrative
of inn, angels and shepherds
bears deeper meaning.
How then to unwrap
the deeper swaddled meaning
for hearers today?
Jeff Shrowder, 2016.
Christmas Day 2
UNWRAPPING 2
(John 1:1-14)
The Word became flesh
and lived among us, one of us,
full of grace and truth.
How then to unwrap
the deeper swaddled meaning
for hearers today?
Jeff Shrowder, 2016.
