ZEAL
(1 Kings 19:1-15a)
Elijah’s fervour
had grown into spectacle,
loud, fiery, deadly.
Consciously or not
zeal becomes self-promotion
“It’s all about me.”
Zealous Elijah,
threatened, afraid, self-doubting,
fleeing for his life.
When God asks us,
“What are you doing here, (name) ..?”
it’s about purpose.
Where zeal is selfish
the soft murmuring stillness
is where we find God.
