PSALM 95
Come, let us raise a shout of joy to the LORD;
Let’s give a great shout of joy to our God!
Let us walk before the LORD with thanksgiving and praise;
Let’s make a joyful noise to our God!
For the LORD is a great God,
and a great king above all gods;
whose hand holds the depths of the earth
and the tops of the mountains.
The sea belongs to God who made it;
and whose hand formed the dry land.
Come, let us worship with deep reverence;
and kneel before the LORD, who made us.
For the LORD is our God;
and we are the people of the LORD’s good earth,
sheep of the shepherd’s hand.
“If only you would listen to my voice today;
don’t harden your hearts,
as they did at Meribah and Massah, in the wilderness.
Your ancestors tested me;
even though they saw my work.
For forty years I loathed them;
‘These are folk whose hearts go astray,
who disregard my way.’
So in my anger I swore:
‘They shall not come into my resting place.’
OFFERING
Creator God,
your love comes to us
like a spring of water gushing up.
May our gifts and our living
be to your glory and praise;
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A CREATIVE MOMENT – John 4:5-42
Continue using the purple cloth from last week. It could be hung as a large plain banner or draped in a manner appropriate for your worship space. Display posters or project images of wells and water-drawing equipment, also images of a geyser or artesian bore flowing. Place a glass jug of water on the worship/communion table.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
(A prayer, usually with connection to one or more of the lections for the day, to gather the spoken and silent concerns/joys/thanks expressed by the congregation and lead into a more structured Intercession. Sometimes this prayer also borrows lightly from other sources e.g. Uniting in Worship 2 or publications of the Iona Community.)
God of boundless love,
by the light of your Word and the warmth of your Spirit
comfort and encourage those in our congregation;
our community; our families
whom we name on our lips
and in the silence of our hearts;
and those whose trouble is known only to you…
