PRAYER OF ADORATION (From Psalm 36:5-10)
Gracious and eternal God,
your lovingkindness cannot be contained by the heavens
and your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds;
your righteousness stands like the mightiest mountains
and your judgements are like the deep ocean.
And yet, Lord God,
you save humanity and all creation alike;
how precious is your lovingkindness.
Gracious and eternal God,
you offer safety to all humanity;
all are refreshed in the abundance of your house,
and you invite all to drink from the stream of your delights.
Indeed, with you is the fountain of life, and in your light we see light.
Extend your lovingkindness to those who know you,
and your actions for setting things right to those with a godly heart.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
(A prayer, usually with connection to one or more of the lections for the day, to gather the spoken and silent concerns/joys/thanks expressed by the congregation and lead into a more structured Intercession. Sometimes this prayer also borrows lightly from other sources e.g. Uniting in Worship 2 or publications of the Iona Community.)
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
It was on a Monday
that Jesus demonstrated and spoke out
against oppression, exploitation and corruption.
So today we pray,
Holy source of all that is,
comforter of the oppressed and grieving,
strengthen those who fear the terror of the night,
or daily life;
rescue the distressed;
be present to those who call on your name,
to those we named on our lips,
and in the silence of our hearts,
those whose concerns are known only to you;
in Jesus’ name…
