PRAYER OF ADORATION  (From Psalm 36:5-10)
Gracious and eternal God,
your lovingkindness cannot be contained
by the cosmos
and your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds;
your acting to put things right
stands like grand mountains
and your judgements are like the deep ocean.
Yet you save humanity and all creation alike;
how precious is your lovingkindness.
You offer safety to all humanity;
all are refreshed in the abundance of your house,
and from the streams of your delight all may drink.

Yours is the fountain of life;
yours the light of the world.
Let your lovingkindness embrace those who know you,
your actions for setting things right
embrace those with a godly heart.

OFFERING
Holy, transforming mystery we name God,
endowed with particular gifts,
we bring an offering;
not simply symbols of our daily living
but also our lives and the talents
that make each who we are,
to be used for the common good
by the inspiration of your Spirit of grace.
Amen

A CREATIVE MOMENT – John 2:1-11

Six stone water jars arranged above and behind the altar are a feature of the church at Cana celebrating the first of Jesus’ signs.

This might offer a springboard for imagining ways of connecting creatively with the text today. Perhaps the simplest might be a (glass) jug of water placed at a focal point in the worship space.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
(A prayer to gather the spoken and silent concerns/joys/thanks expressed by the congregation and lead into a more structured Intercession with connection to the lections for the day. Sometimes this prayer borrows lightly from other sources e.g. Uniting in Worship 2 or publications of the Iona Community.)
Deepest mystery of grace,
beneath, above, around
and within,
by the light of your Word
and the warmth of your Spirit
enable us
as followers of Jesus,
to comfort and encourage
today and in the days to come,
those whom we name on our lips
and in the silence of our hearts.
Amen.
