Psalm 133  (a translation for today)
How good, indeed, how pleasant  it is,
for a community to live as one.
It is like precious oil on the head,
running down upon the beard,
the beard of Aaron,
flowing down over his robes;
like dew on Mount Hermon,
which comes upon the mountains of Zion
for there the LORD has ordained the blessing ?
life for ever.

A CREATIVE MOMENT – Genesis 45:1-15 and Matthew 15:21-28
If your theme this week continues the Joseph saga, re-use the symbols of last week and add an image or object which typifies or symbolises Joseph’s status as Egyptian “ruler”.
For the gospel reading, drape a swathe of brown cloth (representing the journey of Jesus and his disciples) from the worship table onto the floor in front and place some largish scraps of bread on this cloth.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
(A prayer, usually with connection to one or more of the lections for the day, to gather the spoken and silent concerns/joys/thanks expressed by the congregation and lead into a more structured Intercession. Sometimes this prayer also borrows lightly from other sources e.g. Uniting in Worship 2 or publications of the Iona Community.)

Holy one whom we name God,
you have heard the cry of your people in every generation;
Hear our prayer
for those in our congregation; our community; our families,
those we have named
on our lips and in our silence,
and those whose trouble is known only to you;
in Jesus’ name we pray …
