63B – All Saints Day

62B - Sunday 30B64B - Sunday 31B

PSALM 24
The earth and its abundance is the Lord’s,
the world, and those living in it;
for he has founded it upon the seas,
and established it upon the rivers.

Who shall go up the hill of the LORD?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up their life to what is false,
and does not swear deceitfully.

Such a person will receive blessing from the LORD,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O everlasting doors!
that the King of glory may come in.

Who is the King of glory?
The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O everlasting doors!
that the King of glory may come in.

Who is this King of glory?
The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.

OFFERING
Gracious God,
you provide abundantly for our daily needs;
you surround and fill our lives with your Spirit.
Remembering the faithfulness
of those who have gone before us,
we give our lives anew
and these symbols of our daily living
to the life of your kingdom
and following the way of Jesus. Amen.

A CREATIVE MOMENT – John 11:32-44
Some strips of cloth loosely folded on the Table together with a lighted candle (Mt. 5:16) and a small, shallow dish containing salt (Mt. 5:13) symbolising the baptism and witness of the saints remembered with thanks on this occasion.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
(A prayer to gather the spoken and silent concerns/joys/thanks expressed by the congregation and lead into a more structured Intercession with connection to the lections for the day. Sometimes this prayer borrows lightly from other sources e.g. Uniting in Worship 2 or publications of the Iona Community.)

Compassionate God, hear our joy and thanks
for the delights we have known this week.
Hear our cry for the weak, the lonely and the dispossessed.
And, as we remember the lives of those
of this community who have died in the past year,
pour out your Spirit
on those who bear the grief of that loss;
those whom we name on our lips and in our hearts;
and those whose troubles are known only to you;
that all may know your peace…
      (The Prayers of the People continue)
