On the premise that ‘less is more’ I often attempt to express my thoughts in poetic form, mostly haiku, but occasionally cinquain. This week it turned out to be some of both. The 4-verse Prayer of Preparation touches the First, Epistle and Gospel readings for next Sunday.
Holy
God of glory,
wilderness tent-dweller:
no fixed abode, you make our hearts
your home.
Risen
Light of the world;
the Christ, who is our peace:
you bring us into the household
of God.
Spirit,
now among us;
you rest us, renew us,
By your presence we are people
of God.
One God,
we worship you:
Source, Word and Breath of life,
comfort us as we also bring
our pain.

Made one,
new humanity;
citizens with the saints,
members of the household of God
in Christ.

We have been brought near,
no longer strangers, aliens:
yes, Christ is our peace
