LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON
(1 Kings 2:10-12; 3:3-14)
Intrigue and struggle
put Solomon on the throne,
young but ambitious.
Solomon pleased God,
choosing wisdom, discernment,
by which to govern.
But it did not last:
this king, faithful yet ruthless
was just like David.
We, like Solomon,
aspire to good and wise ways,
but how constantly?
