Adrenalin, endorphins
all ebbing away.
But wait, there is more!
There are twelve days of Christmas
for celebration.
Ponder more calmly
the story’s hope, poetry,
promise, mystery.

A light in the dark
attracting kings, multitudes,
gifts, wealth, abundance.
A light in the dark
of conflict, displacement, flood,
hunger, disease, death.
A light in the dark
of human exploitation,
global warming.
A light in the dark
of domestic violence,
road-rage, bullying.
A light in the dark:
if ever we needed one
now is the moment.
A light in the dark:
loving God and your neighbour,
let your light so shine.
