CALL TO WORSHIP (from Psalm 22:23-31)
Stand before the LORD in holy fear:
You have not hidden your face from me,
but you heard when I cried out to you.
Glorify the LORD with reverence and awe:
You, O LORD, are the source of my praise;
in the great congregation I will praise you.
The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
those who seek him shall praise the LORD.
CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 22:25-31)
The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
those who seek the LORD shall praise him.
All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD God;
For dominion belongs to the LORD, embracing all the nations.
All who sleep in the earth bow down;
future generations will serve the LORD.
God’s mighty saving acts will be proclaimed
from generation to generation;
our children’s children will be told what the LORD has done.
PRAYERS OF ADORATION AND CONFESSION (from Ps. 22:23-31)
Creating God,
we praise you for your word
which called the universe into being;
and for your spirit
which breathed life into your human creation,
made in your image.
We praise you that in your love
you seek to embrace us in our brokenness;
that while your only Son was handed over to death,
you raised him to life,
a new creation by which you recreate each of us
as we believe in hope, and accept in faith.
Source of life, Word of life, Breath of life,
we worship you. Amen.
Believe Christ’s word of grace to us:
Your sins are forgiven.
Thanks be to God.
OFFERING
Creator God, in the unity of Christ
we bring our diverse gifts
Let your Holy Spirit
breathe life into our serving,
so that all we do
brings glory to your name. Amen

WORDS OF MISSION
All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD;
all the families of the nations shall worship before the LORD our God.
For dominion belongs to the LORD,
whose realm embraces the nations.
Indeed, both old and young shall worship the LORD;
and our children’s children shall experience and proclaim
God’s mighty saving acts.
A CREATIVE MOMENT

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
(A prayer to gather the spoken and silent concerns/joys/thanks expressed by the congregation and lead into a more structured Intercession with connection to the lections for the day. Sometimes this prayer will borrow lightly from other sources e.g. Uniting in Worship 2 or publications of the Iona Community.)
God of covenant,
whose faithfulness and promise are everlasting:
let your Spirit whisper your faithfulness
to the oppressed and grieving
and your promise
to those who fear the terror of the night,
or the trial of daily life;
let your Word speak hope to the distressed.
Do not hide your face
from those who call on your name,
those we have named today,
those we name in our hearts
and those whose troubles are known only to you.
Loving God of all generations,
hear the cries of our world,
in Jesus’ name…
