ALONE, WRESTLING, BLESSED
(Genesis 32:22-31)
Jacob was alone
and in his night -time wrestling
saw the face of God.
Renamed Israel,
blessed, wounded, yet made whole,
the sun rose on him.
Our problem seems worst,
alone, in the wrestling place,
the close dark of night.
Yet through that wrestling
there can be resolution
in the light of day.
