WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Exodus 1:8-2:10
The writer highlights
the characters who matter:
no one else is named.
Shiphrah and Puah,
(wily midwives) and Moses,
carry God’s promise.
In the beginning
all naming belonged to God
Day, Night, Sky, Earth, Seas…
Yet we were given
the chance to name all the rest
and names give meaning.
By our given names
and our actions we are known,
even remembered.
