It’s a story
of more than past loyalty
or of hope for the future of Israel.
or of personal qualities to be emulated.
Along with trust
in an often behind-the-scenes-God
who works in favour of life,
such qualities shape the secure future
of a nation.
It’s a story
for our time
about an alien adopted
by a peaceful, welcoming society,
offering security in an insecure world,
and loyal commitment to the other.
