MATTHEW 24:36-44
We journey through Advent
expectant, hopeful;
our reasonable, ordered lives
conforming to the social boundaries
set around layer by layer.
Unprepared
we are caught by moments and circumstances
which are not as they seem:
they disturb
with their prospect of embarrassment,
public disgrace,
shame.
Yet in this shame,
is wrapped God’s hope for the world:
God with us
in an unexpected way.
